2. In-Race Events
2.1. Cautions
2.1.a. The Caution period is defined as the time between when the yellow flag is indicated on the track lighting or the flag stand until the green flag is displayed from the flag stand. This includes the time until cars have “taken” the caution flag.
2.1.b. Racing back to the yellow flag is NOT allowed. Hold your position when the yellow comes out. Blackflags will be givin to people who gain positions after the caution has come out.
2.1.c. The leader of the pack racing back to the caution may choose to give a lap back but it is the sole discretion of the leader. Drivers following are advised to use good judgment in slowing for lapped traffic to pass.
2.1.d. After receiving the yellow flag (crossing the start/finish line), do not stop after the line. Let off the gas and gradually reduce speed to meet the pace car and the field.
2.1.e. Keep the same pace as the pace car.
2.1.f. Keep a safe distance between you and the car in front so as not to cause a collision as a result of a sudden maneuver.
2.1.g. Failure to follow rules 2.1.e and 2.1.f may be penalized by a 1 lap penalty and probation following post-race review. These penalties can not be appealed.
2.2. Lap Back Rule
2.2.a. Due to the single-file restarts in IROC, to encourage more lead-lap car racing, and to relieve the potential for accidents caused by leaders slowing to let lapped cars back on the lead lap, the Lap Back rule is in effect in all races.
2.2.b. The first car scored a lap down upon taking the yellow may, at his discretion, receive a “free lap”. The procedure is outlined in the following section: Caution comes out; first car a lap down is indicated via text. Pit stops commence as normal. With 1 lap to go, the identified driver will drive through the pits adhering to all track rules. Upon indication of the green flag, the race admin will issue a !lap+ #xx command to give the driver one lap back.
2.2.c. If the identified driver is not at the end of the lead lap cars on the restart, the driver will not be given their lap back.
2.2.d. Drivers may utilize pit services when pitting with one lap remaining.
2.2.e. The Lap Back driver may pass cars pitting at the same time as he is commencing the drive-thru with one lap remaining but must exit the pits at the rear of the pace field still on the track.
2.2.f. Rule 2.2 does not apply if the restart will be with less than or 10 laps remaining.
2.2.g. Failure to follow the procedures outlined in this rule may be penalized post-race under rule 3.2, Overaggressive Driving.
2.3. Restarts
2.3.a. All restarts are single-file restarts.
2.3.b. There will be no jumping the restart. Any driver attempting to jump the restart by slowing the cars behind them or pacing at other than pace car speed will be penalized post-race under rule 3.2, Overaggressive Driving. Passing can be made on a restart with under 10 laps to go (keep in mind the RIR rule).
2.4. Incident Rules
2.4.a. A driver causing any track accident that results in a caution period, or thru careless driving cause others to cause a caution period, will be charged with an “incident”.
2.4.b. If you have caused two incidents in a race, you will be expected to courteously retire from the race as soon as possible.
2.4.c. Drivers not retiring after accumulating two incidents in a race will be penalized post-race under rule 3.3.c.1, Two Incident Rule.
2.4.d. Any driver making contact and spinning either himself or another car during a caution period (section 2.1.a) will be charged an incident and penalized 1 lap post-race.
2.4.e. Contact that does not bring out a caution will be judged as Overaggressive Driving and will be penalized under rule 3.2. To request a review of a non-caution incident, send an email to the League Administrator with the lap and incident information.
2.4.f. A driver causing a caution period within 5 miles or 3 laps from a restart, whichever is less, will be charged a 25 championship point penalty in addition to the charged incident. If a driver accumulates 5 RIR incidents in a season, that driver will receive a suspension of no less than 1 race.
2.5. Warp
2.5.a. Warp is a fact of life for internet play; if you see cars warping use good judgment in making any passes. If, by general consensus, you are experiencing “excessive warp”, show extreme courtesy to fellow drivers, and make all on-track moves with caution. Only EXTREME warping cars will be asked to leave and reconnect.
2.5.b. Losing a lap due to warp sucks, but is also another fact of life in internet racing. If you do lose a lap because of warp, the in-game scoring will stand, and that lap will remain lost.
2.6. Black Flags
2.6.a. Drivers are expected to obey the rules of the game and follow all instructions for black flags.
3. Violations and Penalties

3.3.c. It is recommended, but not required, to retire after your second incident. There is no penalty to continue racing with 2 incidents, however...
3.3.c.1. Drivers may continue the race with 2 incidents pending appeal but if the driver accumulates a third incident, the driver will be penalized 25 championship points and receive a 1 race suspension.
3.3.c.2. If a driver continues with a possible 2 incidents, pending review, and both incidents are upheld after review and appeal, the driver will be penalized 5 championship points for not retiring.
